Ingersoll Rand has been designing standard and custom Handling Device solutions. Whether you call them Handling Devices, End Effectors, or Lift Assists, we offer the most complete range of handling solutions from the simplest to the most complex. These handling devices use vacuum, clamp, probe, trap or hook style designs to handle loads up to 1000 lb. Each solution is designed with operator safety in mind, and ALL devices are designed to meet the ASME B30.20 specification for Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices. Most Ingersoll Rand end effectors come equipped with a safety interlock system that will not allow the operator to accidentally disengage the part during transfer.

Application:

Clamp

Clamp devices are generally designed specifically to the application. These devices are ideal for handling a wide variety of items, typically with rigid sides that permit mechanical or pneumatic clamping. Pneumatic devices contain safety interlocks to prevent accidental disengagement during transfer.

Hook/Trap

Custom or standard to the application, Hook or Trap devices typically apply no force to the product and tend to be easily applied to a wide variety of shapes. Most applications tend to be straight transfer with no manipulation. Solutions range from simple J hooks to multiple gripper systems.

Probe

Custom designed to be inserted into and/or grab the inner diameter and bore of spherical/tubular items such as paper rolls, wire spools, steel rolls, bobbins, barrels, carpet rolls, etc.

Vacuum

Venturi-based vacuum cup systems provide an ideal solution for handling and manipulating non- and low-porous items with basic shapes and flat surfaces such as glass, cardboard boxes, sheet metal, aluminum, plastic, doors, lids/covers, boards and plywood. These systems are available in either standard 1-cup or 4-cup configurations, or as custom solutions to handle any application.

The units perform best when the item being lifted weighs less than 300 lb (136 kg), but higher capacities are achievable. Ingersoll Rand vacuum handling devices are pneumatically controlled and come standard with a safety interlock so loads can not be dropped during transfer.
