Why Choose Hercules SLR Grade 120 Chain
Grade 120 chain is a high-performance alloy chain that is appropriate for overhead lifting and offers the highest strength in the industry. Grade 120 chain is known for its square rather than round links which increase the contact between the bearing surface on the link, reducing pressure on the chain. The higher cross-sectional area per link means that grade 120 chain has a higher strength-to-weight ratio than grade 100 chain.
Because square links are more expensive to manufacture then round links, grade 120 chain is a more costly chain. However, grade 120 chain has a working load limit (WLL) that’s approximately 50% higher than grade 80 chain, and 20% higher than grade 100 chain.
Grade, indicated by a number embossed on the chain, represents the strength of the chain. As the chain grade increases the strength-to-weight ratio, working load limit (WLL), and material strength will also increase. Grade 100 chain will be marked with a 12, 120 or 1200. Along with the squared links, grade 120 chain is also usually blue, green or another bright colour, making it easy to distinguish.
