Grade 70 Chain

Canada's Grade 70 Chain Experts

Why Choose Hercules SLR Grade 70 Chain

Grade 70 chain, also known as transport chain, is a high-strength, heat-resistant carbon steel chain. Grade 70 chain is the highest grade you can purchase within the carbon chain category. Grade 70 chain is most commonly used within the transportation industry for load securement, logging, and towing but is also a popular choice on oil rigs, in marine applications and for safety chain. Grade 70 chain is not recommended for overhead lifting.

Grade, indicated by a number embossed on the chain, represents the strength of the chain. As the chain grade increases the strength-to-weight ratio, working load limit (WLL), and material strength will also increase. Grade 70 chain is therefore a stronger, more durable version of a grade 30 or 43 chain. Grade 70 chain will be marked with a 7, 70 or 700 and is most commonly manufactured with a gold-coloured finish. This makes grade 70 chain recognizable to the transportation industry and easily identifiable to riggers as a type of chain that should not be used for lifting.

Hercules SLR stocks a variety of chains at our 13 brick-and-mortar stores across Canada and our experts can help you identify what chain is best for your needs.
