Grade 80 Chain

Why Choose Hercules SLR Grade 80 Chain

Grade 80 chain is a high-strength, heat-treated alloy steel chain that is most commonly used for overhead lifting. Grade 80 and grade 100 chains are both appropriate for overhead lifting, however, most often grade 80 chain is the recommended chain for overhead lifting and is the most-commonly used chain in the making of chain slings.

Grade 80 chain is temperatured at a higher temperature than grade 100 chain, making it more resistant to extreme temperatures. This is an important feature to a lifting chain especially when used in high-heat environments such as steel mills.

Grade, indicated by a number embossed on the chain, represents the strength of the chain. As the chain grade increases the strength-to-weight ratio, working load limit (WLL), and material strength will also increase. Grade 80 chain will be marked with a 8, 80 or 800.

Hercules SLR stocks a variety of chains at our 13 brick-and-mortar stores across Canada and our experts can help you identify what chain is best for your needs.
