Overview

This LEEA accredited program will provide students with the fundamental knowledge and practical rigging skills for working in an offshore environment. Program contents meets or exceeds the requirements for skills and knowledge as laid out in API Recommended Practice 2D and CAPP.

  • Risk management
  • Rigging plan
  • Calculating load weight
  • Rigging triangle
  • Load control
  • Sling angles and the center of gravity
  • Rigging equipment (slings, hitches, hardware, hooks)
  • Pre-use inspection
  • Responsibilities of the Rigger
  • Communications (radio and hand signals)
  • Personnel transfer
  • Container inspection
  • Practical applications of the equipment and principles

Format

The program is a combination of theory and practical training. Students are evaluated by means of a written test and practical evaluation. Upon successful completion of the program, a certificate will be issued valid for 4 years.
