Grade 70 Chain

Canada's Grade 70 Chain Experts

Hercules SLR Grade 70 Chain

Grade 70 chain, also known as transport chain, is a high-strength, heat-resistant, carbon steel chain most commonly used to secure loads during transit.  It is used in logging and towing, and is also a popular choice on oil rigs, in marine applications and as safety chain. But, grade 70 chain is not suitable for overhead lifting.

A chain’s grade, indicated by a number embossed on the links, represents its strength. As the grade increases the strength-to-weight ratio, working load limit (WLL), and material strength also goes up. Grade 70 chain is marked with a 7, 70 or 700 and is most commonly manufactured with a gold-coloured finish that makes it easily identifiable as a chain that should not be used for lifting.

Hercules SLR stocks a variety of chains at our 17 brick-and-mortar stores across Canada and our experts can help you identify what chain is best for your needs. Contact us today.
