Wooden blocks have been used in the marine industry for decades, traditionally used with manila rope. They were used as the main way to lower and raise the sails of a ship, as well as for loading and unloading the ship.
Wooden blocks are now designed to be used with any synthetic fiber (in accordance to working load limits), and are most often used to provide protection from damage to a ship with additional strength provided by a steel frame inside the wood.
Wooden blocks are available at Hercules SLR in three sizes; single, double or triple, as well as in different sheave sizes in order to properly align with the size and working load limit of your rope. Wooden blocks can also be ordered with your choice of fitting: hook, swivel, or upset shackle.
Contact the lifting and rigging experts at Hercules SLR for more information on which variation of the wooden block is right for you.
